Only the Owner has access to the Preference screens.
Project info
You can change a project’s name, password, and address here. You can delete any project (except the Owner), and choose another project to inherit its records after deletion. You can set a project to ‘lapse’ (switch) to another project after a certain idle period (this is recommended for the Owner project on multi-user systems).
Software info
You can change software names and addresses here. Club Share subscribers can also add comments to be sent to the software supplier. You can set a default project to which the software’s records will automatically be assigned. You can delete any software type from METER’s database, erasing its settings but leaving existing data records intact. (If you use that application again, a new software record will be created.)
Owner info
This screen governs many aspects of METER’s behaviour.
You can set which keys and modifier-keys are used to summon METER’s dialogs.
You can set how often METER surveys your system and updates your records. Normally this should be every five seconds or so; the figure must be between 2-30 seconds.
You can set default creators (signatures) for the PICT and TEXT output files that METER creates.
You can set the maximum number of projects and signatures that METER actively maintains at any time; extras are culled daily.
You can set the maximum number of day, week, and month records that METER maintains. METER checks daily if it is time to merge older day records into a single week record, or week records into month records, and so on.
You can enter a new METER registration ID to unlock the features you have paid for. If you ever remove or replace your METER Data file, you may need to re-enter this ID. If you want to use METER on another Macintosh, contact us to purchase an additional ID ($5 each).
The ‘Public’ and ‘Private’ fields are not implemented in this version.
